It was like any other night, we four room mates in our pyjamas, sitting with really huge books (we being medicos). And as usual, one person was stffling a huge yawn, I was wiping the drops of saliva on my book which dripped from the corners of my mouth while i was busy in my dreamland, and someone was completely asleep using the book as a pillow. Then suddenly one of us got a great idea(don't remember who, as we all get great ideas at the rate of 3/sec)--an idea to use our freedom of not being in the confinements of huge hostel walls and the scrutiny of a warden!! Of course this might seem a 'small step' to most people, but for us it was a 'giant leap' , for we are studying in a conservative place with even more conservative people. For better explanation, as an example, it's a place where wearing stuff even minusculely different from tradition can jeopardise our reputation!! (like we care!!)
So, coming back to our idea. It was cold and as usual,we were in partial starvation(read 'dieting'). So we decided to go to a restaurant at around 11 in the night!! Of course, our favorite place is at a walkable distance from where we stay, but still, it was an adventure!! So we sneaked out of the gate, trying not to make noise so as to wake our RESIDENT WARDEN(read 'owner uncle'). The roads were empty and actually it's kind of scary at that time(for better explanation-we are advised not to step out of our house after 7 p.m.). People just wouldn't stop staring!! 4 girls, at 11 in the night, walking on the almost empty road!!!!! It was a daring act people!!
Well, we reached the restaurant which was about to close. But we are very frequent to this place, as we call it our SECOND HOME, though being a bit heavy on the pocket. The waiters kept enquiring about our 'little' late arrival.......We had our hot and spicy sumptuous meal, stole lots of mouth-freshner and almost stole the beautiful container containing it.
While walking back to our place, we were getting newer ideas of what we could do with 2 bikes and a watch showing the time-12 o'clock midnight!!!

Humpphhh!!!
Well, I am not much into these things and specially, this time, as I was in a mental crunch,I couldn't keep a continuous track of news. Some party leader went(or i would rather say 'is') on a hunger strike to divide our state!!!! My friends explained to me the reasons for this incredible demand, but, come on!! No reason is reason enough for division!! That too when the part that you are living in will be called Telangana, after the strike!! I personally prefer Andhra Pradesh.....The worst part is what the students are doing..Burning down buses, destroying the malls and shops...There is no end to it.It's as if anybody and everybody who had a secret wish from childhood to hurl a stone at a store window, is bringing it to reality and on top of it, happily going home with his/her collar untouched and act unquestioned. Honestly, some pictures in the newspaper show guys laughing and bringing the glasses of a shop down!!
And one guy even burnt himself up for the cause!! This guy boldly cast off his life in front of everyone but was pleading to the doctors to save him later on.
Recently, another group of students, medicos(including me) put up a strike in the just demand of increase in stipend. And I must tell, it was impressive! The guys participating wore a black arm band in the beginning symbolising the cause. And later, small rallies were taken out in the hospital premises. We staged skits and some speeches citing our demand and why we were making it.That's all!! It was seen till the end that not a single person was hurt or any other kind of loss occurred. Though the media did exaggerate the existing problems as those incurred due to the strike. But, in all, it was a peaceful strike and results were achieved. But this thing, which is going on now, is just leading to our own loss..We, students, have been given a vacation of 15 days!! That too when this is the peak time of exams for some and syllabus-finishing for some. I won't deny that i was happy at first, welcoming the break, but now i realise how much I am, well, not just me, everyone, is going to lose..
I am just hoping that this thing gets over fast and normal life can be resumed. Well, I wanted to utilise the holidays by catching up with friends and movies, but even that's not gonna happen coz of this strike!! He he...
